Subject: [B*E*S*T] Ecar works! You did it! Date: 1997-11-07 14:34 Our intrepid team of novice electic car builders returned to my house Thursday evening, Nov 6. In a marathon session lasting past 10pm, they got it working! Triumphant team members made a victory run up and down the alley behind my house. In just two sessions, your team of first-time builders succeeded in designing and assembling a working vehicle out of recycled materials. Congratulations to you all for a job well done! Of course, there were a few minor bugs to work out. No brakes, the driver couldn't reach the switch to turn it off, the seat and battery weren't mounted, etc. But that's OK; the top speed was only about 3 mph. Now that we're experts, let's get into those classrooms and show the kids how it's done. Or more likely, they'll show us! Want to bet that they are even better at it that us? Bob Aske took the car home, and will be back tonight to pick up some odds and ends (including his coat :-). You're of course welcome to keep fixing and inproving it. In fact, you'd better if you plan on ever showing it to your classes. By the way, you didn't name it. Sci/Math Speeder? Teachmobile? Whirlwind? Or as David would say, "Mine"! I visited Joe Rossow's two classes today, and they're off to a flying start with half a dozen model cars underway. But that's all the time I have for now. I'm off to Seattle, and will be back Nov 21.
